Carephone 101: How The Two Systems Work

22 December 2015  |  John

The Carephone are an experienced company in creating and developing assistive technologies. For over 20 years they have been working to enable the elderly and vulnerable to live their lives more independently while being safe in the knowledge that help is not too far away.

Their two key products – the Carephone Landline and Carephone Pebbell GPS Tracker – work independently of each other, but when used together they enable an exceptional level of care to be delivered while still  ensuring that the person under your care can live their lives as independently as possible.

The Carephone Landline

The Carephone Landline connects into a standard phone port and becomes an exceptional emergency call alarm for every room in the house. The Landline consists of two parts – the base station and the pendant.

Directly connecting to the phone line, the base station holds all your emergency numbers so that contact is quick and easy, it also wirelessly charges the pendant which will have the base station immediately connect to an emergency number when triggered. The pendant then acts as a phone handset, with a microphone and a speaker built in so that the user can be reassured that help is on the way by a friendly, recognisable voice.

This makes it a fantastic solution for use in the home. But what about outside the house?

The Carephone Pebbell GPS Tracker

This is basically the Landline’s base station and pendant bundled into one, easy to use device. The Pebbell is an SOS pendant which uses mobile networks rather than a landline phone connection. This makes it an excellent choice as a mobile care system, especially for patients who are prone to wandering.

Simply insert any SIM card into the tracker and it becomes a mobile SOS button. You can store up to 3 emergency numbers in the Pebbell, and when the SOS button is pressed it’ll automatically dial these numbers in order.

What’s more, because it uses mobile networks it also acts as a GPS tracker, sending you a text with a Google Maps link to their location upon request. This makes it great for quickly locating patients or loved ones.

Because these two products work independently but have the same goal - ensuring that the people under your care can get the help they need while retaining their independence – they come together to provide a comprehensive monitoring solution.
